Four straight losses for the Cubs, which is like losing 11 straight in a regular-length season. HOWEVA, it is not * really * 11 straight losses. So thats excellent? Better? It still sucks.Kyle Hendricks travelled today through six innings, with his only hit permitted accounting for the only run he had actually permitted to that point– a Dexter Fowler solo homer– however encountered trouble in the 7th. A double, walk, single loaded the bases, and though he got one out after that, he departed in favor of Rowan Wick with one out. Unfortunately Wick offered up a two-run double immediately. The Cubs had a golden chance to set up a crooked number early, with Anthony Rizzo and Javy Báez reaching base at 3rd and 2nd, with one out. But the Cardinals strolled Willson Contreras to pack the bases for Ian Happ, striking righty, and he set out. David Bote bounced out after that. The golden opportunities were rare after that, as the bats were magnificent quiet in the brief game.Full box score.
