The 49ers invested a third-round draft badger broad receiver Jalen Hurd in 2015, but he missed his entire novice season with a back injury. Now Hurd might miss his whole 2nd season also.
Hurd suffered a knee injury in practice that the group fears was a torn ACL, NFL Network reports. Hurd will get an MRI today.
San Francisco was hoping Hurd would be able to bounce back and contribute this year, particularly after Deebo Samuel suffered a foot injury that may trigger him to miss the start of the season. That now looks unlikely.
Now the 49ers need first-round choice Brandon Aiyuk to have a big novice year. Their pass receiver depth chart is quickly getting diminished.
